Jumbo-Visma and the Italian National team claim victory of 5th stage in virtual Giro d'Italia

Team Jumbo-Visma and the Italian National team have taken the victories of the Virtual Giro d'Italia, while Astana and Trek-Segafredo have retained the GC lead.

Robert Gesink and Steven Kruijswijk have taken the victory of the fifth stage at the Italian virtual race for Jumbo-Visma. The duo completed the 30-kilometre course -which had a vertical elevation of 710m- with a combined time of one hour, 47 minutes and 27 seconds, beating Astana Pro Team -with Jakob Fuglsang and Ion Izagirre- by seven minutes and 53 second.

The Kazakh team retained the Maglia Rosa with a lead of 26 minutes and 15 seconds over Jumbo-Visma and of 38 minutes and seven seconds over Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec.

In the Pink Race, the Italian national team took the victory for the second time in a row thanks to Soraya Paladin and Erica Magnaldi with had a combined time of two hours, ten minutes and ten seconds. Trek-Segafredo has maintained its lead in the General Classification with an advantage of 23 minutes and 11 seconds over the Italian team and of one hour, 11 minutes and 31 seconds over Astana.

The virtual Giro d'Italia will continue on the sixth of Maty with a 31.5-kilometre long course with a vertical elevation of 1180 metres.
