Matteo Trentin (CCC Team) has received the news of the reshuffled calendar of the UCI with optimism.
The former European champion was in competition for the last time in Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne on March 1, just days before the calendar had to be paused due to the coronavirus crisis. After weeks of uncertainty, the Italian rider has welcomed the renewed calendar with hope.
"The race calendar is similar to what we were already expecting so there is a general confirmation of the rumours," said Trentin. "Finally, we have something to properly work towards, and we know when we have to be ready. We can start to set our own goals for the rest of the season.
"Let’s be positive and say that this is their proper calendar that we are going to race and if everything keeps going the way it is, we can hopefully do it all. How the situation has evolved in the past month has been more positive and let’s hope this trend in a few countries will continue, and we can isolate this virus and work towards restarting the cycling season."
