The second edition of the CIC - Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenges will be held on August 6 and it will have a luxury start list.

The race takes the riders to the top of the iconic Mont Ventoux after a course that will be 182 kilometres long and features 4000 of climbing. The first climb of the race will be up to the Chalet Reynard and the second is the ascent of the south face of the mountain that is famous in the world of cycling.

Six WorldTour teams will be at the start line of the CIC - Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenges: AG2R La Mondiale, Astana, Groupama-FDJ, Cofidis, UAE-Team Emirates and Trek-Segafredo, while nine UCI ProTeams will also take part in the competition and three Continental Teams.

The organisation of the race has announced top names that will be at the competition -which was one by Cofidis' Jesus Herrada in its first edition. Fabio Aru (UAE-Team Emirates), Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale), Richie Porte, Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) and Astana's Miguel Angel Lopez will be there, also to have a first view of their shapes ahead of the Tour de France.

"This 2nd edition of the CIC - Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenges promises to be exciting," said Nicolas Garcera, race director. "We are very happy and very proud to bring together such a high-quality group just a few days after the resumption of the season.

"Some of the world's best climbers will be there, including the defending champion (Jesus Herrada) as well as the rider who took second in the 2019 edition (Romain Bardet), not to mention the Colombians. With the two ascents of Mont Ventoux on the program, all the ingredients are there for us to witness a magnificent fight in the grandest of settings."
