The organisation of the Vuelta a España has started to go to do a 'recon' on the places that will host starts and finished in its 2020 edition.

Unipublic, organisers of the Spanish grand tour, have been in the city of Irun -where the race will take off on the 20th of October- and in Laguna Negra - Vinuesa -first mountain finish of this edition of the race.

The mayor of Irun, Jose Antonio Santano, and the sports deputy Borja Olazabal, welcomed the members of the technical and sportive directions of the race, as well as the teams for the production and logistics. All of them went together to the FICOBA, the exhibition grounds of the city, and where the headquarters of the Vuelta's organisation will be at the official start.

The opening stage of the race will be 167.3 kilometres long between Irun and Arrate-Eibar, and will feature a medium-climbing route that included two climbs of the third category and two of the second category, which can already start to mark the differences in the General Classification.

Delegates of the organisation of the race also went to Laguna Negra-Vinuesa, in the natural park of the Sierra de Urbion and Laguna Negra, and that will host the arrival of the third stage of the Vuelta, which will be on the 22nd of October. The mayor of Vinuesa Juan Ramón Soria welcomed members of the production team of Unipublic and RTVE, official broadcaster and producer of the race.

This is the first time a stage of the Spanish race will get to this park and the route will feature a finish on a first category climb. This will be the first real climbing challenge that the riders going for the overall classification will have to face.
