Jumbo-Visma is set to go to the French area of Tignes twice to do altitude training ahead of the Tour de France.

Primoz Roglic, Tom Dumoulin and Steven Kruijswijk, along with the rest of the roster for the French grand tour will go to the region at the end of July and then again in mid-August. Between the first and the second altitude training camps, almost the same riders will be at the Tour de l'Ain and the Criterium du Dauphine.

"We would like to create a kind of bubble by having the Tour team race and train together for a major part," said Jumbo-Visma's Head of Performance Mathieu Heijboer. "Last year we went to Tignes for the first time in preparation of the Tour de France. We really liked that. That is why we have chosen to do our preparation in Tignes again."

The riders of the team have managed to maintain their shapes despite the break forced by the Covid-19 pandemic. "All riders continued to train with their trainers," said Heijboer. "They have remained fit in a professional manner. We know that everyone is in good shape. We leave with great confidence to the training camp to ensure that we start the month of August in optimal shape.

Tignes is located at 2100 metres above sea level in the heart of the Vanoise National Park. In the summer, it is possible to practice sports like hiking and mountain biking, while in the winter is very popular for the winter sports enthusiasts.
