Colombian National Champion Catalina Gomez (Colnago CM) is set to wear her national colours for the first time at the Emakumeen Nafarroako Klasikoa, one day before starting at the Clasica Femenina Navarra.

The rider is the latest addition of the Colnago CM team, a formation that has the objective of becoming a WorldTour formation. All members of the squad are currently in a small town in Valencia, where they live in the same house, have shared the difficult moments of the Covid-19 pandemic and are getting ready to continue their season.

Gomez -who landed her first professional contract with Colnago CM after taking the Colombian title- will be part of the roster that will face the restart of the women's calendar at the Emakumeen Nafarroako Klasikoa, and she is thrilled with the thought of wearing her country's colours in racing for the first time.

"It is very exciting, it touches me deeply and gives me motivation to go out and do my best, also when I'm training," she said. "When the moment comes to wear it in racing it will be wonderful and me and the team are really looking forward to that.

"We will start on the 23rd and 24th in Pamplona, and they are very difficult races. The first race will be 118 kilometres and the second 122, each of them has around four climbs, but we will be there fighting for it."

Gomez has been in sports all her life, first in inline skating when she was only five and then in triathlon, where she discovered that she loved the feeling of being on the bike. Since then, she has devoted to cycling, a sport that has made one of her biggest dreams come true: becoming a national champion.

The rider thinks that the current situation of all the team sharing so much time together, will help them at racing. "Everything that we are living together at the moment, sharing a house and being together all the time, will surely be reflected in the races," commented Gomez. "All that is also part of the work we are doing, we haven't wasted a minute or a day. All of it adds up and I'm sure we will see some results from it."
