German rider Rick Zabel has extended his contract with Israel Start-Up Nation for two more years.

The sprinter arrived to the formation at the start of 2020 from Katusha-Alpecin and has become a strong member of the lead-out train. This new contract comes to the rider in a good moment of his life as he just got married and his wife is expecting the couple's first child.

"I'm happy to be in the boat for a few more years with this special team," said Zabel. "It has a special story, we are kind of peace ambassadors. I like the story of the team and I also like the spirit on the team. We are kind of underdogs, but we can achieve big things, and we can do better than a lot of people would expect."

Zabel is ready to restart his season with the Vuelta a Burgos, then he will ride Milano-Sanremo, and he is in the long list of the Tour de France, and the Giro d'Italia is also a possibility for him in 2020. "Rick has only been with us a few months, but the way he conducts himself and how he strengthens especially the lead-out train is great," said Team Manager Kjell Carlström. "He has a great attitude and really helps the team towards success. It’s great that he chooses to continue with us."

Israel Start-Up Nation has already announced contract extensions for Mads Würtz Schmidt, Alexander Cataford, Matthias Brändle, Jenthe Biermans, Tom Van Asbroeck, Andre Greipel and the signing of Chris Froome for 2021.
