The UCI WorldTour calendar will kick off with Strade Bianche on the first of August and Sunweb will be at the start line with two leaders.

The called sixth monument will take the riders through a 184-kilometre route that includes 63 kilometres of gravel roads that are divided in eleven sectors. The race will have its already iconic finish in the Piazza del Campo of Siena.

Sunweb will start in the race with the winner of the 2018 edition of the race Tiesj Benoot and Danish rider Søren Kragh Andersen. "After fine-tuning our training in recent weeks at our team camp in Kühtai, Austria - we are ready to restart the season at Strade Bianche," said Sunweb coach Marc Reef. "It will be a special edition of the race with it taking place in summer; the temperatures are forecast to be very high and the gravel sections will be full of dust which will have an influence on the race itself.

"From the seventh section of the gravel roads the race will be on, and we need to be attentive and take the initiative when we feel that the moment is right. We have a former winner on the start line for us with Tiesj and with Søren alongside him, we have two riders who the rest of the team will aim to support deep into the finale of the race."

Sunweb's roster for Strade Bianche (August 1):

Søren Kragh Andersen
Nikias Arndt
Tiesj Benoot
Marc Hirschi
Joris Nieuwenhuis
Nicholas Roche
Jasha Sütterlin
