UAE Team Emirates has announced that three of the four Colombians that are part of the Vuelta a Burgos roster have been taken out of the race after being in contact with a person with Covid-19.

Sebastian Molano, Cristian Muñoz and Camilo Ardila didn't start on the second stage of the Spanish race -which is the first big stage competition in the revamped UCI calendar for 2020. The riders were in contact on Saturday with a person who turned out to be a positive for Covid-19 the day before.

"Following the protocol of the Team and the UCI, the three riders were isolated, sent home and will all undergo another test," said UAE Team Emirates through a statement. "All three riders returned 2 negative tests in the days prior to the race."

Out of the riders of the Emirati team that remain in the race, two of them -Fernando Gaviria and Max Richeze- already suffered from Covid-19 in March just after the UAE Tour. Fabio Aru and David de la Cruz also continue in the competition.

The race had already suffered the withdrawals of Israel Start-Up Nation's Itamar Einhorn and Alex Dowsett for being directly or indirectly in contact with Omer Goldstein, who received a positive result over the weekend.
