Sam Bennett is set to lead Deceuninck-Quick-Step at Milano-Torino, the oldest race in the world.

The course of the Italian race has changed a bit to give more opportunities for the sprinters, so they can test their legs ahead of Milano-Sanremo, the first Monument of the season. The race will take the riders between Mesero and Stupinigi over a 198-kilometre route that includes some short climbs that aren't expected to have an impact on the outcome.

Bennett, who recently took a strong victory at the third stage of the Vuelta a Burgos after he attacked in the last kilometre, will take the lead of the Belgian team for the race. He will have around him a strong roster to support his ambitions.

"For many, the race will be a rehearsal for Milano-Sanremo and a good opportunity to see where they are ahead of Saturday's important appointment," said Deceuninck-Quick-Step's sports director Davide Bramati.

"It's a new parcours which will change everything, except our desire to be again in the mix and get a good result. Sam Bennett is naturally our leader, he's coming at the start after a very impressive victory in Burgos and will be supported by a solid team and an experienced lead-out train."

Deceuninck-Quick-Step's roster for Milano-Torino (August 5):

Shane Archbold
Sam Bennett
Tim Declercq
Ian Garrison
Mikkel Honoré
Yves Lampaert
Michael Mørkøv
