Deceuninck-Quick-Step has given an update on Fabio Jakobsen's condition after the heavy crash he suffered at the Tour de Pologne.

During the final sprint of the first stage at the Tour de Pologne, the Dutchman was seemingly pushed against the fences by his fellow countryman Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma). The rider's condition has been the centre of attention in the cycling world since then and his team has given a hopeful update on it.

"Fabio Jakobsen's situation is serious but at the moment he is stable," said the statement. "Diagnostic test didn't reveal brain or spinal injury, but because of the gravity of his multiple injuries he is still kept in a comatose condition and has to remain closely monitored in the following days at the Wojewódzki Szpital in Katowice.

"Further information will be made available in the course of the coming hours. Meanwhile, we would like to thank you for your heart-warming support."
