Deceuninck-Quick-Step has given a new update on Fabio Jakobsen's condition, hours after his heavy crash in the Tour de Pologne.

At the end of the night, the team disclosed that Jakobsen's situation was serious but stable and earlier tests didn't reveal brain or spinal injury. The Dutch national champion was kept in comatose condition after he was attended for the injuries that were caused by the serious crash at the finish line of the Tour de Pologne's first stage.

"Fabio had facial surgery during the night," said Deceuninck-Quick-Step through a statement. "His situation is stable at the moment and later today the doctors will try to wake Fabio up. More information will be published when available. Again, we want to thank you all for the huge support!"
