World Champion Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) has taken the victory of the second stage at the Tour de Pologne and took the GC lead of the race.

The second stage of the Polish race was 151.5 kilometres long between Opole and Zabrze over a rolling route that included one climb of the second category. Trek-Segafredo took control of the pack during the last kilometres of the day and Pedersen launched a strong sprint at 250 metres from the finish line, which give him the victory ahead of Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe) and Davide Ballerini (Deceuninck-Quick-Step).

"First of all, I want to dedicate this win to Fabio Jacobsen after the horrible crash yesterday. He deserves to come back fast, to life, and to racing," said Pedersen. We did some pretty good teamwork today. To see how the team rode today was impressive, and then to give something extra in the finale. So I am super happy to take this victory for the team, and for myself also and show this beautiful jersey.

"Now we want to fight to keep the leader's jersey through tomorrow; we will do our best. This is a really good way for us to restart the season and keep our fighting spirit going."
