NTT Pro Cycling will be at the start line of Il Lombardia, the second Monument of the season, with a versatile team.

The also called "race of the falling leaves" will not be on the autumn this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and instead will offer a new challenge for the riders: the heat of the summer. The route will be 231 kilometres long, a bit less than other years, but will still include climbs like the Madonna del Ghisallo, de Muro di Sormano and the Civiglio.

Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier was supposed to lead the team at the Italian race, but he crashed out of the Gran Piemonte and will have to skip the race due to lacerations to his elbow and ankle. Enrico Gasparotto will replace the Eritrean and will have the company of a strong line-up that includes Ben King.

"Lombardia is a brutal race suiting the best climbers," King said. "The hardest climbs are stacked in the second half of the 230 km course. But it is also beautiful. With so much history and Italian romance surrounding this race, we all want to get the best out of ourselves."

NTT Pro Cycling's line-up for Il Lombardia (August 15):

Enrico Gasparotto
Danilo Wyss
Ben King
Stefan de Bod
Gino Mader
Benjamin Dyball
Matteo Sobrero
