UAE-Team Emirates' Davide Formolo has taken the victory of the third stage at the Criterium du Dauphine.

The third stage of the French race was 157 kilometres long and took the riders from Corenc and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville over a route that included one HC climb and a new mountain finish. A group of nine riders formed the breakaway of the day and after all the first climb of the day only Davide Formolo (UAE Team Emirates) remained in front.

Meanwhile, Jumbo-Visma took control of the pace of the peloton in the climbs and the descents of the day. The Italian national champion took a solo victory while the favourite's group did it 33 seconds behind him, being the GC leader Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) the first one of them to cross the finish line and extending his lead.

Groupama-FDJ's Thibaut Pinot, Bora-hansgrohe's Emanuel Buchmann and EF Pro Cycling's Daniel Martinez completed the top five of the day.
