Deceuninck-Quick-Step sports director Davide Bramati has confirmed that Remco Evenepoel is in good condition and undergoing tests after his heavy crash at Il Lombardia.

The Belgian rider suffered a heavy crash as in one of the descents of the race, his bike crashed against the wall of a bridge, sending him over the edge. Scary moments followed, but soon the race organisation and broadcasters like the RAI said that he was conscious, and he was soon taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Bramati was in one of the team cars when all this happened. "We hadn't seen the fall ourselves, we only heard about it on the race radio," he said to Belgian broadcaster Sporza. "When we saw that Remco's data stopped, we thought it was him.

"When we got there, I only saw his bike. A bike without a rider, that's not a pleasant sight. I immediately walked down and quickly saw that he was fine. He could speak and said he had pain on his right side. He is now in the hospital, together with the doctor, Patrick (Lefevere) and his family. I think it will be okay. But the bad luck can stop for us now."

Last week, the team was hit by another serious accident when Fabio Jakobssen crashed at the finish line of the first stage in the Tour de Pologne. After undergoing surgery in Poland, the rider is already back home in the Netherlands where he will continue his recovery.
