Wilco Kelderman is set to lead Sunweb's General Classification ambitions at Tirreno-Adriatico.
The race will have one more stage than in 2019 and will take place between the seventh and the 13th of September. The parcours of the Italian competition will be mostly for flat and classic specialists and a closing individual time trial of ten kilometres in San Benetto del Tronto.
"This year's Tirreno-Adriatico takes place over eight days, with a real mixed bag of terrain and interesting stages," said Sunweb coach Luke Roberts. "There are some pure sprints, more difficult reduced sprints, a mountain-top finish and a time trial; so there are lots of opportunities throughout the race. Our main goal will be to get a good GC result with Wilco (Kelderman), so the mountain top finish and individual time trial will be very important.
"Alberto (Dainese) will be our option for the pure flat sprints and he's very motivated to ride on his home roads. Michael (Matthews) has shown that he's in great form just now with his recent win at the Bretagne Classic and he'll be our protected rider for those more rolling, difficult finishes. Chris, Jai, Martijn and Sam will all arrive at the race from our altitude camp in Kühtai, and will ride in support of the other guys, aiming to set them up as best as possible for the finish on each stage of the race."
