Bora-hansgrohe's Pascal Ackermann has taken another victory in the 2020 edition of Tirreno-Adriatico and maintains the lead of the General Classification for another day.

The second day of competition in the Italian race took the peloton between Camaiore and Follonica over a 201-kilometre route. The escape of the day was formed by Italian riders Umberto Orsini, Marco Canola, Nicola Bagioli and Edoardo Zardini, and it managed to build a gap of more than three minutes with the pack.

Teams like Bora-hansgrohe and UAE Team Emirates set the pace to catch the escapees and sentence the race to a final sprint. Unlike the day before, where Fernando Gaviria was very close to the victory, this time Ackermann launched a very strong sprint that couldn't be matched by any of the competitors.

Gaviria and Rick Zabel (Israel Start-Up Nation) completed the top-three of the day.

"Also today we were really strong, the lead-out was perfect," the German rider commented. "It was a long sprint and probably I launched the sprint at the perfect distance to the finish. The next stages are too difficult for me, I might try again on Saturday."
