UAE Team Emirates' Tadej Pogacar has taken the win of the individual time trial of the Tour de France and has taken the Yellow Jersey with one day to go.

The Slovenian time trial national champion did an outstanding job in the climbing individual time trial with a finish in La Planche des Belles Filles, by completing it in 55 minutes and 55 seconds. This performance made him climb to the top of the General Classification, beating Primoz Roglic by 55 seconds.

"I think I'm dreaming," said Pogacar at the end of the stage. "That's all. I really don't know what to say. It is unbelievable.

"I'm really proud of my team, The did such a big effort. To get the Yellow Jersey on the final day it's a dream. We were dreaming that from the start, and we achieved that and it's amazing. I didn't do it alone. It was all the team because we did the recon, I knew every corner, I knew every pothole on the road, I knew where to accelerate because it was a road that you need to know. Congrats to all my team, especially to my sport directors, my masseur, my mechanics, and teammates. Today I just pushed and I made it.

"I was listening to my radio just on the flat part but then on the climb I didn't hear anything from the radio because the fans were too loud, so I didn't hear anything, no time gaps, nothing. I just went deep, I knew the plan very well, so I went full gas from the bottom to the top."

When asked if winning the Tour de France was his childhood dream, the Slovenian rider gave a clear answer. "Actually my dream was just to be on the Tour de France and now I'm here and this is unbelievable."
