Tao Geoghegan Hart (Ineos Grenadiers) has taken the overall victory of the Giro d'Italia by beating his main rival Jai Hindley by 39 seconds while his teammate Filippo Ganna took the victory of the last time trial of the race.

The last stage of the 103th stage of the Giro d'Italia was set to be decisive as two riders were on top of the General Classification: Jai Hindley (Sunweb) and Tao Geoghegan Hart (Ineos Grenadiers). The riders faced a 15.7 individual time trial between Cernusco sul Naviglio and the Piazza Duomo of Milan.

Riders like Mathias Brändle, Alex Dowsett and Victor Campenaerts set the first best times of the day, but like it was on the last two fights against the clock of the Italian grand tour, the World Time Trial Champion Filippo Ganna set a time of 17 minutes and 16 seconds, which turned out to be unbeatable.

The former wearer of the Pink Jersey Wilco Kelderman set a good time that was enough for him to step on the third position of the final podium. Then all eyes turned to the fight for the General Classification and as it was expected Geoghegan Hart was stronger in the discipline, and he took the victory by 39 seconds.
