Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic has maintained the lead of the General Classification after the eleventh stage of the Vuelta a España.

The eleventh day of competition in the Spanish grand tour had the potential of being important for the General Classification but not much really happened on that sense. After the breakaway was formed -which included Marc Soler as the biggest GC threat- Jumbo-Visma took control of the pace in the pack until the end and none of the other overall candidates tried their luck.

At the end of the stage, Roglic kept the overall lead ahead of one of the decisive stages of the race, with a climbing finish on the hors-category ascent of the Alto de L'Angliru. "We controlled the stage really well", Roglic said.

"When Soler attacked, we remained calm and didn’t panic. We kept riding at our own pace. I expected some more attacks on the final climb, but I think everyone is afraid of the Angliru tomorrow. I expect the necessary attacks there and especially a hand-to-hand combat. I have never climbed the Angliru before, but I am looking forward to it and I am confident."
