Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic has taken the victory of the second individual time trial of the Vuelta a España and he won enough time to become the leader of the race once again.
The Slovenian national champion went through the 33.7-kilometre route of the last fight against the clock of the Spanish grand tour in 46 minutes and 39 seconds, being one second faster than CCC Team's Will Barta. With this performance, the rider won back time on his most direct rival Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers) and leads now the overall classification by 39 seconds.
"Finally I win another time trial", Roglic said. "It was a while ago. I felt strong today. I found that surprising, because I thought I would suffer a lot more. Many people thought that I would take much time very easily, but in the end everyone starts such a time trial with equal opportunities.
"We all know that it is just full house and that is not always fun. Fortunately I had good legs today, and I was able to do a nice time trial. We have to stay focused now and keep fighting to the end."
