Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers) has lost the Red Jersey of the Vuelta a España to Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) on the last individual time trial of the race.

The Ecuadorian went down the ramp in the last position of the individual time trial of the 13th stage of the Spanish grand tour as the leader of the general classification. Although throughout the route, his didn't seem to lose much time, the final climb showed to be challenging for the rider and at the end he lost 39 seconds to the Slovenian national champion and fell to the second position of the overall classification.

"It was a really hard time trial, but I’m very happy with the result, we have come to win the Vuelta and it is still the goal," said Carapaz. "I think that La Vuelta is still open, there are a lot of possibilities, there are going to be a lot of very hard days, where everything can change.

"This morning we prepared ourselves to fight for the Vuelta today, now we will continue fighting."
