Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe) has taken the win of the last stage of the Vuelta a España and Primoz Roglic has confirmed the GC victory of the race.

The last stage of the race was 139.6 kilometres long with a finish in the already iconic city circuit of Madrid. As it's tradition, the peloton faced the first part of the day's route in a celebration mood, and the stars of the 2020 edition of the race like Primoz Roglic, Hugh Carthy, Richard Carapaz and Enric Mas did some pictures and some of them had some champagne also to close the season.

As the pack arrived to the Spanish capital, racing returned and the first riders to launch their attacks were Tim Wellens (Lotto-Soudal), Gonzalo Serrano (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), Dmitriy Gruzdev (Astana) and Willie Smit (Burgos-BH). They never got a gap bigger than 30 seconds and were reeled back in at the last lap.

Teams like Sunweb, Bora-hansgrohe and UAE Team Emirates took the lead during the last lap to position their sprinters ahead of the bunch finale. Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe) was the rider that launched his last sprint in the first position and it was as strong that it gave him the victory of the day, while Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) and Max Kanter (Sunweb) completed the top five of the day.

Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) crossed the finish line with the pack and confirmed his second overall victory in the race. Richard Carapaz (Ineos-Grenadiers) and Carthy (EF Pro Cycling) completed podium of this unusual edition of the race, which closed this season.
