Trek-Segafredo has announced the signing of Jakob Egholm for 2021, who will become the fifth Danish rider in the formation.

The 22-year-old won the road race at the Junior World Championships of 2016 in Doha. Egholm will join the formation after spending two years at Hagens Berman Axeon and arrives to support the leaders' aspirations, including the ones of his compatriot Mads Pedersen.

"I'm so excited to join this team, it's honestly a childhood dream come true," said the rider. "I still can't believe it, but I'm super excited to be a part of the gang from January 1st. I've watched this team on television racing in the biggest races since it started. I hope I can do well on this team, and I am really eager to show my potential. I'll do my very best to be a good teammate and help the team to some great victories.

"I think the Classics races should suit me, but I'm really open to learn and grow within this team. I still feel like a young, inexperienced guy, and I don't know exactly what my abilities are; I think it's pretty open still. I'm sure with all the great directors and riders that we can make a good path for me. I'm joining a growing Danish group within Trek-Segafredo; there are some great guys, and I get along with them very well already. It's going to be really nice to have a Danish imprint on this team, and I think we can do some exciting stuff together."

This signing completes the 2021 Trek-Segafredo men's team, which will include 29 riders from 12 nationalities.
