The Volta a Catalunya has announced the invited teams for the 2021 edition of the race, which will be held between the 22nd and the 28th of March.

In 2021, the Spanish race will have its 100th edition and its organisation has already confirmed the invited teams for it. The competition -which belongs to the WorldTour calendar- will have six invited formations: Alpecin-Fenix, Kern Pharma, Rally Cycling, Gazprom-RusVelo, Arkea-Samsic and Fundación Euskadi.

The six UCI ProTeam formations will join the 19 WorldTour teams in the upcoming edition of the race -which had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organisation of the race took into account the quality of the riders of each of them -with riders like Ilnur Zakarin, Nairo Quintana, Ben King, and Roman Kreuziger, among others- and teams like Kern Pharma and Rally Cycling have riders and close relationships with Catalunya.

Alpecin-Fenix has been invited because it finished in the first position of the UCI ProTeam level in 2020.
