Étoile de Bèsseges
Bingoal-Wallonie Bruxelles' Timothy Dupont has taken the win at the second stage of Etoile de Bessèges on a day that was affected by crashes.
Saint-Genies hosted the start of the second stage of the French race and after a 154-kilometre-long route, the riders arrived to La Calmette. The escape group of the day was formed by Tony Hurel, Maximilien Picoux, Alexandre Delettre, Ludivic Robeet and Vojtech Repa.
With around 40 kilometres to go, Robeet was the only one of the escapees to remain in front and he finished his solo adventure just before the 10-kilometre mark as the peloton wanted to force a final bunch sprint. With a bit more than three kilometres there was a crash in the peloton and then another one in the last kilometre.
Riders like Nacer Bohanni, Bryan Coquard, Christophe Laporte, Giacomo Nizzolo and Timothy Dupont disputed the final sprint and the rider of Bingoal-Wallonie Bruxelles was the strongest. Laporte maintained the lead of the General Classification.
