Giacomo Nizzolo (Qhubeka Assos) has sprinted to victory at the Clasica de Almeria, beating Florian Senechal and Martin Laas.
The one-day Spanish race was 183 kilometres from Pueblo de Vicar to Roquetas de Mar and although there were several attempts of a breakaway, the final 50 kilometres the peloton was compacted. Despite several crashes that broke the peloton, the race came down to a bunch sprint in which the European champion showed to be the strongest once again.
"I am really happy about today's victory and the great job the team did today," said Nizzolo. "From the start we tried to control the race, but the race was a bit strange, kind of on-and-off a few times because of the wind.
"The final was quite tricky but we managed to have a good position for the sprint, so I am really happy for the team and we look forward to the next one."
The victory of the Italian rider is his first one of the 2021 season and the for the Team Qhubeka Assos.
