Nans Peters to begin season at Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var

AG2R Citroën Team has announced its roster for the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var that includes riders that are preparing for the Spring campaign.
The French team will be at the start of the race of their country with a roster that includes strong riders for the Spring like Greg Van Avermaet and Oliver Naesen. In addition, Nans Peters will start his season there in preparation for the upcoming stage races.
"I finished the 2020 season on November 8th at the Vuelta a Espana," the Frenchman said. "So I needed to shift my usual time when I stop racing and take a total break from the bike. I started training on the bike again on December 20th and the January training camp in Spain allowed me to work on my base mostly.
"I've always started my racing season a bit late so I don't have a problem with that. I know that compared to riders who have been racing for three weeks already, I will certainly be a little short on racing form. The Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var has three difficult stages, and that doesn't displease me at all because I like aggressive races. Last year I finished second at the top of Mont Faron."
Peters is looking forward to return to the road and already looks forward to races that are later on the season. "I am happy to be back in competition," he explained. "My goals for the year are simple: raise my arms in victory as often as possible, regardless of the race.
"I want to be in good shape for the Tour de France, of course, but that means doing well at the highlights that come before which will be the Volta a Catalunya and the Tour de Romandie."
