Greg Van Avermaet is set to lead AG2R Citroën team at Strade Bianche, a race in which he has finished in the second place two times.

The Olympic champion is set to continue his classics campaign at the race of the white roads after finishing in the top ten of Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne. The Belgian -who stepped on the second place of the race's podium in 2015 and 2017- will have the support of Lilian Calmejane, who will ride it for the first time and after recovering from his fall at the third stage of the Tour de la Provence, and Clement Venturini, who will attempt to relive good moments in the competition.

"My form has been good since the start of the season, which makes it necessary to seize every opportunity to perform," said Venturini. "After the Tour de la Provence and the Drôme Classic, I'm heading to Italy this week for the Trofeo Laigueglia and then the Strade Bianche.

"I have already raced the Strade in 2018. I have fond memories of it with the 2nd place for Romain Bardet. It reminds me of cyclocross with the white gravel roads. I can't wait to start this race again. The objective this year will be to help Greg Van Avermaet."

AG2R Citroën's roster for Strade Bianche (March 6):

Greg Van Avermaet
Lilian Calmejane
Gijs Van Hoecke
