Julian Alaphilippe to skip Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020

Deceuninck-Quick-Step's Julian Alaphilippe has announced that he will not take part of the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020.
In a surprising move, the World Champion has announced through his social media channels that he will not be part of the French team for the upcoming Olympic Games. The rider was one of the favourites' for the road race, which is set to be held on Saturday, July 24.
"Hello everyone, I want to inform you that after having thought long and hard, in agreement with the coach of the French national team and Deceuninck-Quick-Step, I have decided to not be a candidate for the selection for the next Olympics in Tokyo," said Alaphilippe through his social media channels.
"This is a personal and well-considered decision. The objectives for the end of this season have been defined and I had to take choices in this sense. I would be very proud to wear the colours of the French team for the next World Championships. I wish the best for the team that will start in the Olympics."
