Primoz Roglic (Slovenia, Jumbo-Visma) has taken the victory of the time trial at the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020. His teammate Tom Dumoulin (The Netherlands) has taken the silver medal and Rohan Dennis (Australia, Ineos-Grenadiers) stepped on the third place of the podium.

The time trial of the Olympics was held on and around the Fuji Speedway over a 44.2-kilometre course that had 846 altitude metres. Roglic and Dumoulin rode strongly as was evident in the intermediate points and at the end, the Slovenian was more than a minute faster than the Dutchman.

"For me, it is very nice to win this race after such a difficult period", said Roglic. "It was difficult to keep my head calm during difficult moments. Hard work, the support of my family and other close people, and believing in myself have dragged me through.

"That is now paying off with this medal. From the start, I went full speed ahead and fought for every kilometre. That was enough for the gold medal. Every performance is special, and so is this one. I am very happy."
