UAE Team Emirates' Sebastian Molano has taken the victory of the second stage in the Vuelta a Burgos.

The second stage of the Spanish race was 175 kilometres long and took the riders between Tardajos and Briviesca over a rolling route. On the last kilometres, Kevin Geniets (Groupama-FDJ), Mads Würtz Schmidt (Israel Start-Up Nation) and Marcus Burghardt (Bora-hansgrohe) escaped on a slight climb but Matteo Trentin went on to catch them, sentencing the stage to a bunch finale.

The Colombian of UAE Team Emirates took his first victory in more than a year by crossing the finish line ahead of Alberto Dainese (Team DSM) and Trentin. Gonzalo Serrano (Movistar) took the lead of the General Classification.

"Firstly, I'd like to say thanks to my teammates for their spectacular work today," said Molano. "They showed a lot of faith in me, and this win is a thank you to them. It's been a long time since my last victory, and it feels really good.

"It was a close sprint, and I left it quite late to come off Matteo's wheel. But when I kicked, I gave it everything and managed to take the win."
