Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert has withdrawn from the Tour of Suisse following a positive Covid-19 test among its ranks.

The choice of withdrawing from the race was precautionary and taken just before the start of the fourth stage of the Swiss competition. Although all the Covid-19 testing done before the race returned negative, an additional test done on Tuesday morning showed that one of the team's staff was positive, so to protect the race bubble, the formation didn't start on the stage.

"The decision to withdraw was not easy to take, but we want to be cautious and protect the race bubble after one team member tested positive yesterday even if the rest of the group were all negative," said Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert's General Manager Jean-François Bourlart.

"Our priority is riders' and staff members' health, so we decided to withdraw from Tour de Suisse in consultation with the race organiser. We will keep monitoring the team's health and focus on the next goals."
