Team SD Worx has announced the appointment of Lars Boom as a new team manager from October 1, 2021.

The former rider has signed a two-year contract with the formation and will focus on the coaching of Kata Blanka Vas. The 19-year-old Hungarian is riding for the team as a cyclocross, mountain bike and road racer, the same three disciplines that Boom used to practice in his active years.

"I had a good time at my previous team," said the Dutchman. "But when the best women's team in the peloton knocks on your door, it feels like a great and unique opportunity. In the last years of my career I combined the three disciplines of field, road and mountain bike. With Kata Blanka Vas we have a young world champion in the field and on the mountain bike. I hope that I can use my experience to help her make further progress. I see it as a rewarding challenge to work with her."

The rider will join the technical team of the formation, in which Anna van der Breggen and Chantal Blaak will also be part of. "It is an absolute advantage that Lars Boom has been active in his successful career on the road, the field and on the mountain bike," commented sports director Danny Stam.

"With his experience, he can help Kata Blanka Vas in all disciplines. In the road program we see Lars fitting into the picture of the technical staff where he will stand alongside Anna van der Breggen and Chantal Blaak. Van der Breggen will take up this position from 1 January, Blaak will still ride the spring classics and will start in her new role on 1 May 2022."

Boom already had experience in the women's peloton as in June 2020 he joined CCC-Liv as Performance Manager.
