Andreas Lorentz Kron (Lotto Soudal) has taken the victory of the sixth stage at the Tour of Suisse after Rui Costa was relegated. Richard Carapaz maintained the GC lead.

The sixth stage of the Swiss race was 130.1 kilometres long and took the riders between Andermatt and Disentis-Sedrum over a route that features two climbs of the third category and a last ascent of the third category. A first escape group included World Champion Julian Alaphilippe and Antonio Nibali, but it was caught midway.

With 42 kilometres to the finish, a new group was formed in front and riders like Andreas Kron, Rui Costa, Hermann Pernsteiner and Pierre Latour were included in it. It all came down to a final sprint between Kron and Costa, and although the Portuguese crossed the finish line in the first position, an irregular movement on the sprint meant his relegation and the victory went to the Dane.

Richard Carapaz crossed the finish line two minutes and 49 seconds behind Kron and maintained the lead of the General Classification. Jakob Fuglsang sits 26 seconds behind the Ecuadorian and Max Schachmann 38 seconds behind, ahead of the second individual time trial of the competition.
