Mavi García (Ale BTC Ljubljana) has taken the title of the Spanish national championships for the second time in a row.

Just one day after taking the win of the individual time trial of the Spanish championships, the 37-year-old took the third title on the road of her career. The rider crossed the finish line of the 106.9-kilometre race in the city of La Nucía in the Costa Blanca, 12 seconds ahead of Ane Santesteban.

"It was a very tough course with 2,300 metres of elevation gain," explained García. "I had a good race from the start. The group split up almost immediately because already after 9 kilometres there was the first hard mountain climb of the day with an average gradient of 8%.

"The sensations were immediately very good for me, the climbs made selection and we remained in front of a group of five athletes. The wind made things even more difficult, then Ane Santesteban and I stayed in front and on the final climb I accelerated and went on to win. It was not easy, but I really wanted this victory and I am very happy."
