Tony Martin (Jumbo-Visma) has taken his tenth individual time trial title in the German national championships.

The route of the German fight against the clock was more than thirty kilometres long in Öschelbronn and Martin did an outstanding job in it. He completed the circuit in 36 minutes and 25 seconds, being almost one minute faster than Leopard Pro Cycling's Miguel Heidemann and more than a minute than Max Walsheid (Qhubeka-Assos).

"I had to go deep", Martin said after taking his tenth national title in the discipline. "The weather conditions were extreme. The heat made this time trial extra tough. Especially in the second part of the race it hurt. I was encouraged by the lap times. It was a great relief when I knew I was going to win. It is special to win this title for the tenth time. I am looking forward to riding in my country's jersey in time trials for another year."

"Tony rode very strongly," added Jumbo-Visma's sports directo Grischa Niermann. "Halfway through the race he already had a nice lead on the competition. The fact that he is winning the title for the tenth time is special. He did a great job today."

This has been a good week for Jumbo-Visma in relation with time trials. Tom Dumoulin took the title of the Netherlands and Tobias Foss did it in Norway.
