Colombian national champion Aristobulo Cala has been provisionally suspended after a positive result in a doping test.

The 31-year-old underwent an out-of-competition test on the 14th of April 2021, just months before he took the win in the road race of the championships at the South American country. On June 20, 2021, the Colombian crossed the finish line in Pereira just ahead of Marco Tulio Suesca and took his first title ever.

Cala's sample was positive for Anabolic Androgenic Steroids, as was published in the Colombian Cycling Federation and the Union Cycliste Internationale's websites. The rider had already been suspended in 2014 after he refused to go to the doping control after winning the Clásica a Cómbita.
