Matej Mohoric (UAE Team Emirates) has taken the win of the 19th stage of the Tour de France, his second in the Grand Tour. Tadej Pogacar keeps the lead of the General Classification.

The stage before the last individual time trial was 207 kilometres long over a flat route that linked Mourenx and Libourne. The escape of the day was formed by Julien Bernard (Trek-Segafredo), Jonas Rutsch (EF Education-Nippo), Simon Clarke (Qhubeka-NextHash), Franck Bonnamour (B&B-KTM), Georg Zimmermann (Intermarch├ę-Wanty Gobert) and Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Victorious) and by the end of the stage it got a gap of more than 18 minutes with the pack.

Behind, Deceuninck-Quick-Step -taking turns with Alpecin-Fenix- tried to pull the pack as much as possible to try to catch the front men and force a bunch finale for Mark Cavendish to attempt his victory number 35 in the race. But it was soon evident that the gap was not getting smaller, and it gave up.

In the middle, a group of around 20 chasers were trying to bridge to the front and included riders like Mike Teunissen, Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theuns, Ion Izagirre, Max Walscheid and Casper Pedersen, among others. With around 60 kilometres to go, they managed to join the original escape group.

On the last 30 kilometres, there were several attacks in front that sped up the pace of the group and managed to make it smaller. Around four kilometres later, Mohoric successfully broke free and soon managed to create an important gap with the rest. The Slovenian national champion crossed the finish line on his own, making it three in a row for riders of his country after Tadej Pogacar won the last two stages, and his second win in the race.

The General Classification remains the same as the peloton crossed the finish line together more than 20 minutes after the winner of the day, and ahead of the last time trial of the French grand tour.
